The PD100 is a replica of a well-known search and rescue drone that is used by the military, among others. The model impresses not only with its robust construction, but also with its detailed appearance. The rotor head is supported by a precise stabilization system and gives the drone a completely new control feel thanks to auto-takeoff and auto-landing. Thanks to the new electronics, it is now possible for beginners to fly such a model without any prior knowledge. The PD100 starts at the push of a button on the handy 2.4GHz transmitter with metal sticks and floats to a certain basic height by itself. The drone stays there (in altitude hold mode) and the pilot can concentrate entirely on the essential functions without having to pay attention to the flight altitude at the same time. The gyro system also controls the tail rotor and keeps the model stable in the air. For more agility in flight, there are three speed levels, which are equally interesting for beginners and advanced users. This means that the PD100 is also suitable for outdoor use (in light winds) and can reach high speeds in forward flight. To land, the start/landing button on the transmitter can be pressed again: the model sinks gently to the ground again.
The motor has soft start and soft cut. This means that when starting, the rotor turns slowly and thereby prevents the model from turning around its own axis. The same applies when landing: the rotor slowly stops and the engine switches off automatically. As a further safety feature, the PD100 has a voltage monitor that constantly checks the battery during flight. Once the basic voltage is reached, the LED lighting starts flashing, signaling that you should land as quickly as possible. If the pilot does not react, the system automatically takes over the landing to protect the battery.
The PD100 is almost ready for use after unpacking. All you have to do is charge the battery and install the app for camera control – you’re ready to go. The smartphone is mounted on the remote control using the holder provided, so you have the live image directly in front of you. With the LiPo battery 1S 3.7V 580mAh, flight times of up to 15 minutes are possible. Using the USB charging cable, the PD100 is quickly ready to fly again after extensive maneuvers.
In addition to the remote control, the drone can also be flown via the app. To do this, the smartphone is connected to the drone via WiFi. In addition to all the camera functions such as photo, video, zoom, etc., the app also offers the option to take control.
